Laboratory Focus:

Our lab investigates the effects of perturbation of complex transcriptional pathways on neurodegeneration and cancer. Dr. Dangond cloned HDAC3 in human and mouse. We work on characterizing the function of other transcriptional regulators that are implicated in cell proliferation, survival and differentiation. We also attempt gene replacement therapy in mice models of neurodegeneration using adeno-associated virus as a vector. Finally, we utilize DNA microarray technology to explore mechanisms that operate in autoimmunity, neurodegeneration and cancer.
